I started life in Vancouver, Canada, and then moved to a small town on the south coast of England where I spent my teenage years. I went on to study Illustration and Design at Falmouth School of Art, in Cornwall, UK. Following college I began working with an agent illustrating children’s books for clients such as Oxford University Press.
I took an opportunity to work and travel the high seas on cruise ships, and I spent four years traveling to all corners of the globe, met my beautiful wife, and together we moved back to Vancouver.
In Vancouver I worked as an artist in the movie, television and video game industries, specializing in design, illustration and 3D animation. I started drawing in my own time, searching for the outlet my inner artist wanted to express. The sea had long been my muse, I had been captivated by it since I was a small child. Something about the ocean was calling to me, and I answered, drawing water in charcoal. I love the versatility that charcoal offers, sometimes soft and flowing, other times dramatic and high contrast, just like the sea itself.
We left our life in Canada and moved to the Algarve in the south of Portugal. Now, I devote my time to creating artwork that reflects the natural beauty of the ocean and coastline. Being by the ocean and in nature inspires in me a sense of appreciation that I hope to recreate in my drawings. I want people to look at my artwork and be inspired and feel uplifted by the beauty of the world in which we live.
